New Irish band I Dreamed I Dream's launch their new single, Fags, from their forthcoming EP, BOYOPOISONING, with a gig at Bello Bar in Dublin on 3 May. We asked Ella of the band the BIG questions . . .
The new release follows their debut EP, Why Say A Lot?
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Elle (me) and Claire are from Cork, Julie is from Tipperary and Niamh is from Dungarvan. Our first band together was a Simpsonswave joke band called Patty & Selma.
How would you describe your music?
No punk bitch-wave your mother would say "fair play for trying something different in all fairness".
Who are your musical inspirations?
Madonna, Sonic Youth and janky Cork post-punk.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Gwen Stefani at the RDS during the Sweet Escape tour 2007. I was eight and wasn't no hollaback girl.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Madonna’s first album and Depeche Mode’s Violator.
What’s your favourite song right now?
I can’t stop listening to Friends by Crying Loser.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered but you can’t stay here with every single hope you had shattered" from In a Big Country by Big Country
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Birdland by Patti Smith.
Where can people find your music/more information?
We’re on all the streaming sites and Bandcamp. Just search up I Dreamed I Dream and ignore all the Les Miserables. Instagram, Spotify, Breaking Tunes.
