Liam Neeson has made his Naked Gun debut in a teaser trailer released ahead of the comedy franchise's return to cinemas in August.
The reboot has been billed as "the single most important Naked Gun movie since the other Naked Gun movies".
Neeson takes over the lead role from the late comedy legend Leslie Nielsen, who brought Lt Frank Drebin to bungling life in the 1982 series Police Squad! and the films The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994).
Teeing up what's ahead, Paramount Pictures said: "Only one man has the particular set of skills... to lead Police Squad and save the world!
"Lt Frank Drebin Jr (Liam Neeson) follows in his father's footsteps in The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy).
"Joining the case are cast Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, [and] Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston."
The Naked Gun will be released in cinemas on Friday 8 August.
