The Newsreader, 11.05pm, RTÉ2

This is the third and final season of the entertaining (and multi-award-winning) Australian drama set in a TV news company in the 1980s, starring Anna Torv and Sam Reid.

The show returns in 1989, a time when Helen (Torv) and Dale (Reid) are reaching new peaks of success on the box.

She has her own current affairs show and he has become a big name in news.

But in the fight to become number one, they find themselves in direct competition.

Bad Dog Academy, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Back for a second season, a team of expert trainers join presenter Nick Grimshaw to take on the naughtiest dogs, offering some much-needed advice to their owners.

Eight-stone Ghost, a Cane Corso mastiff, is striking terror into the heart of the neighbourhood, and his owners.

While his guard dog credentials are impeccable, it is hoped trainers Sean and Kamal can encourage him to become compatible with family life.

Meanwhile, newly engaged pair Chelsea and Owen have their hands full with - and their relationship tested by - Chelsea's six chihuahuas and a cavaponchi called Mr Bollinger.

Science Fiction in the Atomic Age, 8.00pm, Sky Arts

This four-part series explores the history of science fiction in the atomic age, from Mary Shelley to Isaac Asimov (below).

It looks at the creation of the atomic bomb by J Robert Oppenheimer and others, the Cold War, and the many varieties of science fiction expression in all media.

Richly illustrated and with a specially written orchestral score, this series promises to inspire, shock, engage and entertain, with its description of visions of the future expressed in the greatest works of science fiction.

Mhairi Black: Being Me Again, 7.00pm, BBC Two

The ex-Scottish National Party MP Mhairi Black talks about her life in depth.

As well as interviews with her wife Katie, and father Alan, cameras gain access at the House of Commons, and the first night of her stand-up show, Politics Isn't for Me, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Mhairi, the youngest person ever elected to the British House of Commons, also discusses feelings about her own neurodivergence.

The Bondsman, Prime Video

Kevin Bacon stars in this new series as a murdered bounty hunter Hub Halloran, who gets resurrected by the Devil to hunt demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell.

By chasing down those demons with the help and hinderance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned -- which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.

Here's the latest medical drama from the USA.

As a hurricane barrels towards Miami's busiest Level 1 Trauma Center, third-year resident D. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) is unexpectedly thrust into a promotion when beloved Chief Resident Dr Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended.

Amid the worsening storm and an onslaught of trauma cases, the hospital goes into lockdown, and Danny and Phillips must find a way to work together - even as the bombshell details of a complicated and illicit romance between them begin to spill out.

The rest of the ER is left to process the fallout of their relationship while balancing their own challenges, both personal and professional, as they work under the pressure of life-or-death stakes.

Because for this tight-knit group of doctors, saving their patients’ lives is often less complicated than living their own.

This week the candidates are tasked with launching an environmentally conscious, sustainable fashion label, designing a collection and building a brand before holding a fashion show for buyers.

Back in the boardroom, boss man Alan Sugar (above) delivers a customary severe dressing-down before removing another hopeful from the process.

Omnibus: The Great Gatsby – Midnight in Manhattan, 9.30pm, BBC Four

A 2000 profile of American writer F Scott Fitzgerald from the 75th anniversary of the publication of his most enduring achievement, The Great Gatsby, originally published in 1925.

Plus, there’s an exploration of the novel's importance within the 20th-century.

Also tonight, at 8pm there’s a screening of the 2000 made-for-TV film version of The Great Gatsby, starring Mira Sorvino, Toby Stephens, Paul Rudd and Martin Donovan.

First Dates Ireland, 9.35pm, RTÉ2

Maître d' Mateo and his staff present the first of two programmes looking back at memorable match-ups from the current run of the series.

The highlights shows promise a variety of killer lines, cringe-inducing clangers, loved-up lotharios and awkward moments.

It’s the sixth and final episode of the comic drama created by Chris O'Dowd and starring Christina Hendricks and Paddy Considine.

It’s a big day for all concerned as Wendy returns to Drumbán for the local premiere of I Am Celt.

As the town gathers in excitement, Séamus, Wendy, Pubba, Catherine, Shelly and Big Jim return to the woods to confront their pasts and face an uncertain future.
