"Mind Games captures the essence of navigating a toxic relationship while wrapped in a sound that makes you want to dance," he says.

"It's got the storytelling, the energy, and a nostalgic groove that I think will really resonate with listeners."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I'm a self-diagnosed distraction to myself. I could be heading to find my shoes and the dog will look at me sideways and next thing I know I'm sitting behind the guitar singing the Jurassic Park theme song. On that note, I've discovered I'm a lover of 90s movies, mainly down to the music, especially John Williams soundtracks. What a guy. I love to draw, especially interested in graffiti and inkart skate style. A real 90s kid.

How would you describe your music?

My music is very open-minded and eclectic. There is definitely a rhythm and groove inspired style behind all my music, but as Diarmuid O'Brien on 2fm said, you never know what you're gonna get with a Paulie Martin release. I have songs that are soulful, rocky, funky, bluesy. It depends on what inspires me. Mother nature, poker (games), mental health and love themes are what I tend to write about in my lyrics

Who are your musical inspirations?

My Dad used to sing melodies to me as a kid and they stuck with me for life. Simple little ditties that I think help inspire writing a hook in a song. There's also too many to mention, but to keep it short, Queen, ELO, Rory Gallagher, John Williams, Quincy Jones, Sublime, Stevie Wonder etc.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Oh, Meat Loaf in the Point or 3Arena. My Aunt Christine had a spare ticket and she brought me along. It was my first time to see a guitar player shred and my god, Meat Loaf was unreal

What was the first record you ever bought?

I think it was Michael Jackson’s Dangerous on tape. I ended up spending all my money on albums for years after that. My friend worked in the local CD shops and I swear they'd put a rack of metal, blues or funk out every week just for me, and I'd buy the lot!

What’s your favourite song right now?

Right now... hard choice but I might go for Blue is the Eye by Ye Vagabonds. I love covering that song. I also loving Guy I Used To Be by Lawrence. So much energy in that band.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Has to be from Don't Push by Sublime: "If I had a shotgun, you know what I'd do? I'd point that s*** straight at the sky and shoot heaven on down for you."

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It's always just one... the hardest question to answer of all time. One to slowly go mad to for the rest of my life, Let's go with The Nut Rocker by B. Bumble and the Stingers has it all - classical music, rock and roll, groove, a guitar solo!
