Details of Chris O'Dowd's Black Mirror episode revealed

Netflix has revealed details of season seven of Black Mirror, with Irish actor Chris O'Dowd set to star in one of the new episodes.

The new series of Charlie Brooker's darkly satirical anthology series will return on 10 April and will see Bridesmaids and IT Crowd star O’Dowd appear in episode one, Common People, alongside Rashida Jones and Tracee Ellis Ross.

According to the synopsis for the episode, "When a medical emergency leaves schoolteacher Amanda fighting for her life, her desperate husband Mike signs her up for Rivermind, a high-tech system that will keep her alive - but at a cost…. "

Netflix has also released details of all six new episodes, including a sequel to the sci-fi adventure USS Callister.

In Bête Noire, "Confectionary whizz kid Maria is unnerved when her former schoolmate Verity joins the company she works at - because there’s something altogether odd about Verity, something only Maria seems to notice . . . "

Peter Capaldi stars in Plaything, which is set in a near-future London, where "an eccentric murder suspect is linked to an unusual video game from the 1990s - a game populated by cute, evolving artificial lifeforms."

In Eulogy, starring Paul Giamatti and Patsy Ferran, "an isolated man is introduced to a groundbreaking system that allows its users to literally step inside old photographs - stirring powerful emotions in the process.

The synopsis for USS Callister: Into Infinity reads, "Robert Daly is dead, but now the crew of the USS Callister – led by Captain Nanette Cole – are stranded in an infinite virtual universe, fighting for survival against 30 million players."
