Born and raised in São Paulo, Plínio fuses the tradition of classical guitar with Brazilian folk music and is a regular collaborator of such artists as Lang Lang and Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
Last August, he made his BBC Proms debut and also appeared for the first time at the prestigious Lucerne Festival.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .
If I weren't a musician, I would have tried to be a football player. I like to be surrounded by people as much as I like being on my own. I love reading.
How would you describe your music?
A mix between core classical guitar repertoire and folk Latin American music, mostly Brazilian.
Who are your musical inspirations?
To name a few: Fabio Zanon, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Arthur Rubinstein , Elis Regina, Gal Costa.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
A concert by my first guitar teacher, Eduardo Martinelli.
What was the first record you ever bought?
By the Way - Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Luz do Sol by Caetano Veloso.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Amor de índio - Beto Guedes.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would be my favourite piece of music - Chaconne by J.S. Bach.
