Speaking about how he got into making music, he says: "In 2021, I picked up the guitar and began writing songs. By the end of 2023, I had enough material to start recording an album, collaborating with the talented team at Beardfire Studio."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I'm originally from Scotland, and I'm a huge fan of theatre and movies.
How would you describe your music?
My music spans several genres, including rock, pop, and country. I love telling stories through my lyrics, which have been compared to the works of Tom Petty and Janis Joplin. It's truly an honour to be mentioned alongside such legendary artists.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I draw inspiration from so many artists, but I always find myself returning to bands like Talking Heads, Del Amitri, Bon Jovi, and of course, The Boss - Bruce Springsteen.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Big Country in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland - I mean, how much more Scottish can a guitar sound, right?
What was the first record you ever bought?
Blondie's 12" of Sunday Girl - I still have it and play it from time to time. The B-side even has the French version.
What’s your favourite song right now?
I’m currently in a bit of a renaissance phase, so I’m drawn to anything that doesn't sound too modern. I'm still loving Hozier's Too Sweet.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"She said, 'I don't believe in any old Jesus, As if there was a God, then why is my arse the perfect height for kicking?’" - Rocky Took a Lover by Bell X1. The humour and innocence in explaining whether God doesn't exist, or if he just enjoys kicking you when you're down.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It has to be Since You Been Gone by Rainbow. The opening riff gets me every time, and I can't help but burst into song whenever I hear it. It’s also my go-to track when it's time to cook.
Where can people find your music/more information?
You can find me on all the usual platforms - Spotify, YouTube. I’m also planning a small tour of the Southeast, Waterford and Kilkenny soon, so keep an eye on my socials for updates!
