Dean tries a last roll of the dice with Mairéad in Tuesday's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
The friends have been having an affair, but now Mairéad's husband Damien - Dean's best friend - is coming home from hospital.
In Tuesday's episode, Dean says to Mairéad: "What if I wait for you?"
"Dean..." replies Mairéad.
"Six months, a year, I don't care," Dean continues. "If it means we can be together, I'll wait. What do you say?"
