Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I was born and raised in Scotland but have spent the best part of 10 years travelling through the United States, Central America, India and Europe with my music.
I love nature - the elements - and living in close relationship with the land in off-grid, sustainable and alternative living situations.
I love people! To have a nourishing community is one of my deepest values and treasures in this life and hugely inspires my creativity. I especially cherish my musical relationships and those that inspire me to be the most authentic and expressive version of myself.
How would you describe your music?
My music is a lovechild of the marriage of my physical connection with the land and nature, and my spiritual connection to the infinite, the ancestors, and the Great Mother Goddess. It is deeply inspired by my Celtic roots, but also of the many cultures and traditions I have learned from over the years - creating a deep journey through sound, storytelling and prayer.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Ever since I first saw Rising Appalachia live in Glasgow (my hometown) seven years ago, I have been completely enamoured by their skillful blending of folk music, spiritual and social justice messages into a soundscape of epic music. Along with them, I am deeply inspired by Peia, Murray Kyle, Olivia Fern, Nick Mulvey and Ma Muse.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Embarrassingly, I think it was One Direction when I was about 14 years old.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Must have been Avril Lavigne's Let Go. My all-time favourite artist for many of my young teenage years.
What's your favourite song right now?
Nick Mulvey's Begin Again (Love You Just The Same.
Favourite lyric of all time?
That's hard. Perhaps it's ''Red as the blood you were born with, remember that love is the warmest gift'' from Mae Bird's Hawthorn Song. Gets me every time.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would never choose this fate! perhaps Rising Appalachia's Shed your Grace.
Where can people find your music/more information?
My music is streaming on all major platforms, but if you would like to purchase my music and support my vision, please head to my Bandcamp @bonniemedicine. Several beautifully produced music videos are also available on YouTube.
