It is reported that Colin Farrell is in negotiations to play the DC Comics hero Sgt Rock in a movie that could begin filming in the UK this summer.
The Hollywood Reporter says the film will be directed by Luca Guadagnino (Queer, Challengers, Suspiria, Call Me by Your Name).
The script is by Justin Kuritzkes, who wrote the Guadagnino-directed Queer and Challengers.
If a deal is done, The Hollywood Reporter says, Farrell will play "the tough-as-nails leader of Easy Company, the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe".
Daniel Craig, who starred in Guadagnino's Queer, was previously linked to the Sgt Rock role, but The Hollywood Reporter adds that "no offer was made" to the former Bond star.
Farrell has enjoyed great success reprising his Batman role as the DC Comics villain The Penguin in the HBO miniseries of the same name, winning Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for his performance.
WWII hero Sgt Rock first appeared on the page in 1959, and Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis were both linked to the role in the past.
