Pick of the Day

Dancing with the Stars, 6.30pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

It all comes down to this.

Another eventful – and hugely entertaining - season of the much-loved dance competition comes to a close.

Kayleigh Trappe, Rhys McClenaghan, Danny O'Carroll and Jack Woolley are th four surviving stars who have made it to the final, hosted by Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy (below).

As ever, the dancers will be scrutinised and scored by the four judges: Brian Redmond, Karen Byrne, Loraine Barry and Arthur Gourounlian.

Viewers, of course, will have their say when the dancing ends and the phone lines open.

New or Returning Shows

Protection, 9.00pm, UTV

Here's a brand-new drama, starring Siobhan Finneran. About time she got the lead in a show as she's been brilliant for years in the likes of Happy Valley.

Here, she plays police officer DI Liz Nyles, who works in the secretive and high-stakes world of Witness Protection.

One morning, a devastating incident at work raises grave questions about the integrity of Liz's unit, which is rocked with accusations of corruption.

Tempting Fortune, 9.00pm, Channel 4

Paddy McGuinness (below) hosts a second season of the reality show where 12 strangers begin a gruelling 18-day trek through the hostile tropical jungle of Langkawi, in Malaysia, to win a share of £300,000.

But in order to keep the prize pot intact, they must resist the series of temptations thrown in their way. Easier said than done . . .

In the first episode, a custom-made swimming pool in the middle of the jungle, complete with canapés and champagne, proves too much for some to resist.

Don’t Miss

David Herman Remembers - Face to Face, 9.15pm, BBC Four

Here’s a real treat.

Producer David Herman takes viewers through his memories of the interview series - which began in the 1960s but was revived in the 1990s - including how he was once reduced to tears in an audience of two at a screening of Spielberg's 'Schindler's List' with Jeremy Isaacs.

He also describes meeting Yoko Ono at the Dakota hotel and explains why he believes it was right to resurrect the show.

Face to Face: Paul Eddington follows at 9.15pm. In 1995, Jeremy Isaacs talks to actor Paul Eddington (above, in Yes Minister) about his career in both television and the theatre, and his battle against skin cancer.

At 9.55pm, an episode from 1960 sees John Freeman interviews the television comedian Tony Hancock, who talks about how comedy is linked to things people suffer from, his nature of being self critical, and more.

Then at 10.25pm there's a show from 1998 where Jeremy Isaacs talks to singer-songwriter and activist Joan Baez about her musical career and her dedication to campaigning for human rights.

Five more classic episodes follow. It's a long night - but also a fascinating one.

The Great House Revival, 9.30pm, RTÉ One

Streaming on RTÉ Player

Hugh Wallace (below) visits returned asset manager Eoghan O'Riain, who is restoring a former seaside guesthouse in his native Rathmullan, County Donegal.

Eoghan is hoping to transform it into a cosy home for himself and his dog Charlie.

The front rooms of the house will be given some updating by Eoghan himself, while the area at the back of the house will make way for a modern kitchen extension.

Billy Joel: The 100th Live at Madison Square Garden, 11.15pm, RTÉ One

Timely enough, this, given that poor Billy’s not the Mae West and has had to postpone a couple of upcoming gigs in Britain.

This marks Billy Joel's record-breaking 100th consecutive performance at Madison Square Garden, with special appearances by Sting and – oddly enough - comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that . . .

Sunday Cinema

Goodbye, Mr Chips, 3.10pm, BBC Two

Here's something to brighten up the dullest afternoon..

It's a romantic musical based on James Hilton's novel of the same name, starring an Oscar-nominated Peter O'Toole, Petula Clark, Michael Redgrave, George Baker and Sian Phillips.

A shy, retiring schoolmaster sets out to woo a singing showgirl. He doesn't approve of her profession, but she finds life as an on-campus housewife a tough adjustment.

Well worth watching for O'Toole and Clark's chemistry and superb performances - though I have to admit I prefer the 1939 adaptation with Robert Donat and Greer Garson.

The Conversation, Midnight, BBC Two

Francis Ford Coppola's classic 1974 thriller, starring Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, Cindy Williams, Allen Garfield and Harrison Ford.

An obsessive, paranoid electronic surveillance expert - renowned within the profession as being the best - makes the unprofessional mistake of getting personally involved in a dangerous case on his San Francisco patch.

Hackman is in top form here in one of the 1970s' most notable movies.

Sport

GAA Beo, 1.00pm, TG4

This week’s triple header of GAA action opens with Derry v Mayo (Throw-in 1.30pm). Micheál Ó Domhnaill presents live coverage of the Allianz Football League Division One match at Celtic Park.

Mayo's Ryan O'Donoghue

At 3.20pm the focus stays in Division One but switches to Donegal v Tyrone (Throw-in 3.30pm) at O'Donnell Park, Letterkenny

Then at 5.20pm Micheál Ó Domhnaill presents deferred coverage of Meath v Monaghan in Allianz Football League Division Two.
