Meteorologist Joanna Donnelly and her professional dance partner Maciej Zięba have become the first couple to be voted off in a dance-off in the new series of Dancing with the Stars on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.

Dancing the Jive, they lost out to former Miss Universe Ireland Aishah Akorede and her pro partner Robert Rowiński dancing the Charleston in the dance-off.

Judges Arthur Gourounlian, Karen Byrne, and Brian Redmond all voted to save Aishah Akoredi and Robert Rowiński - and head judge Loraine Barry said she agreed with their decision.

Joanna Donnelly said it had been "the time of my life" and saluted her "brilliant" pro partner - as both a teacher and a friend.
