The Oscar nominations will be announced in Los Angeles this lunchtime, and hopes are high that it will be another good year for Irish film talent at 1.30pm.
The Rich Peppiatt-directed music biopic Kneecap is tipped to pick up nominations for Best International Feature Film and also in the Best Original Song category for the west Belfast rap trio's track Sick in the Head.

The Saoirse Ronan-sung Winter Coat from the wartime drama Blitz could also feature among the Best Original Song nominees.

The controversial Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice, produced by Irish production company Tailored Films, is in the running for nominations in the Best Actor (Sebastian Stan), Best Supporting Actor (Jeremy Strong), and Best Make-Up and Hairstyling categories.

In the Live Action Short category, Irish hopes are pinned on Room Taken, directed by TJ O'Grady Peyton, and Clodagh, directed by Portia A Buckley.

Among the films set to receive multiple nominations this year are the Vatican thriller Conclave, the musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez, the epic The Brutalist, and the musical Wicked.

The nominations were postponed twice earlier this month due to the wildfires in Los Angeles.
The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday 2 March.
