The music biopic Kneecap and the documentary Blue Road: The Edna O'Brien Story were among the winners at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in California at the weekend.
At the festival, the members of Kneecap won the International Federation of Film Critics' FIPRESCI Prize for Best Actor in an International Feature Film.
The jury said the west Belfast trio of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Provái had won the award "for their seamless performance as an ensemble of musicians who make their acting debut in Kneecap".
"Proving equally authentic and explosive in both capacities, they bring a fresh and propulsive energy to the whole notion of cultural identity," the jury added.
The Rich Peppiatt-directed Kneecap is among the films on the Best International Feature Film and Best Original Song shortlists ahead of this weekend's Academy Award nominations, which will be announced on Thursday 23 January.
Also at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Sinéad O'Shea-directed Blue Road: The Edna O'Brien Story received the Best Documentary Award Special Mention with the jury saying the film about the late author "reveals the creative genius and exceptional life force of the great Irish writer".
Blue Road: The Edna O'Brien Story, which won Best New Irish Feature and the Audience Award at last year's Cork International Film Festival, will be released in cinemas on Friday 31 January.
