The acclaimed music biopic Kneecap has been longlisted in seven categories at the 2025 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), while the Irish produced film The Apprentice has appeared in six categories.
Kneecap and The Apprentice are among 10 films longlisted for Best Film, including Anora, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, The Substance and Wicked.

Kneecap has also been longlisted for Outstanding British Film, Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, Film not in English Language, Original Screenplay, Casting and Editing.
Sebastian Stan has been longlisted in the Leading Actor category for his performance as Donald Trump in The Apprentice from the Irish production company Tailored Films.

Saoirse Ronan has been longlisted for Leading Actress for her role in the drama The Outrun, which has also been longlisted for Outstanding British Film, Director, Adapted Screenplay and Original Score.
Ronan's wartime drama Blitz has also been longlisted in seven categories including Outstanding British Film and Original Score.

The Irish film Clodagh, directed by Portia A. Buckley and starring Bríd Ní Neachtain and Katelyn Rose Downey, has been longlisted for best British Short Film.

The Spanish-language musical thriller Emilia Pérez starring Selena Gomez leads the BAFTAs longlist with nods in 15 categories, while the Vatican thriller Conclave has been longlisted in 14 categories.
The films will now go on to the next stage of the nominations, where BAFTA's voting members will select from the reduced list of contenders in each category to pick the final nominees.
The final nominations for the 2025 BAFTAs will be announced on 15 January.

Writer-director Rich Peppiatt's critically acclaimed movie Kneecap stars the Belfast rap trio of the same name and tells their "riotous and ground-breaking" origin story.
Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara and DJ Próvaí star in the film as themselves alongside Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby, Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty, Jessica Reynolds and Adam Best.
The BAFTAs longlist news comes on the heels of a triumphant sweep at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) in December where Kneecap claimed seven prestigious awards. The film was also recently shortlisted for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars.
The 2025 BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will take place on 16 February.
