Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, 9.00pm, Sky Atlantic

Streaming on NOW

On 21st December 1988, 259 passengers and crew were killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie 38 minutes after take-off, with a further eleven residents losing their life as the plane came down over the quiet Scottish town.

In the wake of the disaster and his daughter Flora’s death, Dr Jim Swire (Colin Firth), is nominated spokesperson for the UK victims’ families, who have united to demand truth and justice.

Travelling across continents and political divides, Jim embarks on a relentless journey that not only jeopardises his stability, family and life, but completely overturns his trust in the British justice system.

As the truth shifts under Jim’s feet, his view of the world is left forever changed.

Exploring events from the disaster and its aftermath, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth provides an intimate account of a man, a husband, and a father who risks everything in memory of his daughter and the unflinching pursuit of truth and justice.

Only Connect Champion of Champions Special, 8.00pm, BBC Two

Victoria Coren Mitchell (below) hosts the battle of the cleverest clogs as 2023 winners the Strigiformes take on the Thrifters, who took the season 19 title the following year.

The teams try to make connections between things that at first do not appear to be linked, with one set of clues comprising skin lutrinae, adipose strigiformes, diluted birds, and flatulent drying cloths.

It’s all way beyond me, to be honest.

The Big Fat Quiz of Everything, 9.00pm, Channel 4

Question master Jimmy Carr (below) invites Harry Hill, David Mitchell, Roisin Conaty, Sophie Willan, Josh Pugh and Fatiha El-Ghorri to battle it out to see who knows the most about a wide range of topics.

Helping Jimmy to ask the big questions are actor Charles Dance, the children of Mitchell Brook Primary School, and a host of celebrity question-setters.

The Rig, Prime Video

David Macpherson has created a new story that promises epic thrills and gripping action for a compelling cast of characters, both returning and new.

The cast includes Emily Hampshire, Iain Glen, Rochenda Sandall, Abraham Popoola and Martin Compston

The second season will continue exploring global themes, weaving together the past, present, and future of the planet while taking the viewer to spectacular environments.

It’ll also be on the frontiers of cutting-edge ocean technology, including the controversial world of deep-sea mining.

Helicopters have taken the surviving crew of the Kinloch Bravo to a new secret offshore facility called the Stac, nestled deep in the extraordinary and deadly landscapes of the Arctic Circle.

Here, the trapped crew must deal with the emotional and physical fallout of the devastating tsunami that destroyed the Bravo, and contend with swirling conspiracies, corporate conflicts, and new threats from the dark depths of the world’s ocean.

Vera, 9.00pm, UTV

It’s the last ever episode of the much-loved detective drama, starring Brenda Blethyn as the eponymous DCI Vera Stanhope.

A student violently killed and dumped at the foot of three mythical monoliths and a missing girl sets Vera on an investigation that triggers memories from her own childhood.
