Fergal is thrown when he unearths a vulnerable Jacinta's true feelings about her brother Des in Tuesday's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
As Fergal struggles with his sexuality, he tells Jacinta: "You want to be careful, driving away your favourite son - just like you did your brother."
"I didn't drive Des away," says Jacinta.
"You hated him because you couldn't stomach who he was," sneers Fergal.
"I adored him," Jacinta replies.
