The Wolfe Tones have announced an extra date at Limerick's Thomond Park Stadium next summer after the first gig sold out within minutes.

Fans snapped up 28,000 tickets for the 13 July gig, which was billed as the Irish trad veterans "last ever Irish show".

They have now announced an extra date for Friday, 11 July 2025.

Tickets for the gig priced at €49.90 and €59.90 go on sale on Friday, 22 November at 9am from Ticketmaster.

Band member Brian Warfield said in a statement: "We have been completely overwhelmed by the response to our Thomond Park Stadium show, which sold out in record time!

"We are truly humbled by the incredible demand to see The Wolfe Tones live, and it's an honour to bring our music to such an iconic venue.

"Due to the incredible demand, we are delighted to announce a second date on the 11th of July. We look forward to sharing another unforgettable night with our fans."

The band recently performed on the main stage at Electric Picnic, which drew the largest ever recorded crowd at the festival, and also sold out three shows at Dublin's 3Arena and Belfast's SSE Arena.

The Wolfe Tones were formed in Dublin during the so-called "ballad boom" of the early 1960s, with the current line-up comprising Noel Nagle, Brian Warfield and Tommy Byrne, who have performed as a trio since the early 2000s.

The band has released 16 albums and as well as domestic success, they have achieved acclaim abroad, particularly from the Irish diaspora. They were awarded the Freedom of the Cities of New York and Los Angeles and have played Carnegie Hall on several occasions.

Their music includes both originals and covers, and with some of their best-known songs including Celtic Symphony, Let The People Sing and Grace.
