Andrew Scott was there to cheer on his fellow Irish actor and All of Us Strangers co-star Paul Mescal at the world premiere of Mescal's Gladiator II in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday night.

Dubliner Scott joined Maynooth man Mescal on the red carpet at the Odeon Luxe for laughs and hugs.

The world premiere was also scheduled as the royal film performance, staged by the UK's Film and TV Charity, with Britain's King Charles III attending and meeting Mescal, director Ridley Scott, and many of Mescal's co-stars including Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, and Pedro Pascal.

Mescal told the PA News Agency he would "absolutely love" to do another Gladiator film after director Scott teased that he could be looking to do a follow-up.

Mescal brought Gladiator II home for its Irish premiere at Dublin's Light House Cinema last Thursday.
Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment on his visit home, Mescal said of the epic: "I was holding out for something like this to happen, but I never expected it to be this big."
Gladiator II opens in cinemas on Friday 15 November.
