19-year-old Allie began her musical journey performing on the streets of Cork and Dublin and has played support to OneRepublic and Gavin James.

How Love Works was written and composed alongside Ella Henderson and Ollie Green, who has penned songs for Gavin James and Nina Nesbitt.

"The song was born out of an experience where I felt like an outsider at a party," Alie says. "Whilst watching sparks fly amongst my friends who were happy and partnering up, I began to question the mechanics of connection - how love actually works."

Allie plays: Whelan’s, Dublin, 12 November. The Great Escape 'First 50’ Folklore, Hackney. London, 13 November. Arts Club Loft, Liverpool, 15 November. Live At Leeds Festival, 16 November. O2 Academy2 Islington, London, 18 November.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I play guitar and piano but would love to learn the cello or the saxophone, one day I’ll learn it. If I wasn't in music I would I have loved to be a lawyer. If music doesn't work out for me maybe I can be your lawyer. I wanted to start busking because I saw people in my town doing it and it looked fun, I have always wanted to perform in front of people so that was the best option. Busking wasn't cool at the time and a certain family member said I was begging on the street for money lol.

How would you describe your music?

I would describe my music as soulful pop written from the heart

Who are your musical inspirations?

Adele will always be my inspiration for music. Her 19 and 21 albums are just so nostalgic to me. Chasing Pavements always gives me goosebumps.

It was a Jedward concert. I had all of their merch, shoes, t-shirts and posters.
