Cork International Film Festival to host 95 Irish premieres

The Cork International Film Festival (CIFF) has announced that it will host 95 Irish feature premieres as part of this year's programme, which runs from Thursday 7 to Sunday 17 November.

Among this year's premieres will be Brady Corbet's The Brutalist starring Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones; Mike Leigh's Hard Truths starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Michele Austin; Joshua Oppenheimer's The End starring Tilda Swinton and Michael Shannon; and the Christopher Andrews-directed and Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott-starring Bring Them Down.

Bring Them Down director Christopher Andrews will be among the guests at the festival, joining fellow filmmakers John Crowley, Sinéad O'Shea, and Aislinn Clarke as part of the line-up.

Bring Them Down will compete for the Best New Irish Feature Award at the festival alongside Aislinn Clarke's Fréwaka, Sinéad O'Shea's Blue Road: The Edna O'Brien Story, and Ariane Labed's September Says, among others.

As part of the festival's new Disruptors strand celebrating "maverick filmmakers of cinema's past and present", Withnail & I writer-director Bruce Robinson will be presented with the inaugural Honorary Disruptor Award by one of the film's stars, Paul McGann, at a special screening of Robinson's cult classic.

Launching the festival programme, CIFF Director & CEO Fiona Clark said: "We are delighted to present this outstanding and extensive programme, curated under the direction of Aurélie Godet, who brings a fresh artistic perspective to CIFF.
