The Voice UK, 8.00pm, Virgin Media One & UTV

Emma Willis hosts the return of the spinning-chair singing contest that’s all about the impact and beauty of vocalists.

Emma’s back with regulars Tom Jones and Will.i.am joined on the coaching panel by American singer- songwriter LeAnn Rimes and a double chair occupied by McFly's Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.

In the opening edition, the five mentors will be selecting their teams through blind auditions, pushing their button for the most exciting singing talent that the UK has to offer.

New or Returning Shows

Disco at the Proms, 8.25pm, BBC Two

Andi Oliver (below) presents from the Royal Albert Hall as Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra.

They’re joined by singers Vanessa Haynes, Vula Malinga, Cedric Neal and Elisabeth Troy in a selection of disco classics, including songs by Chic, Gloria Gaynor, Diana Ross, Boney M and Walter Murphy.

Followed at 9.55pm by Disco at the BBC: Volumes 1-3, three hours of floor-filling classics.

Password, 9.40pm, UTV

Here’s a brand-new game show hosted by the ubiquitous Stephen Mangan(below) and which features regular captains Daisy May Cooper and the equally omnipresent Alan Carr.

Daisy May and Alan help players guess mystery passwords across multiple rounds as they try to win £10,000, with Adisa and Jo the contestants in the first edition.

Sambre: Anatomy of a Crime, 9.00pm, BBC Four

This is a French series based on the real events of an almost 30 -ear failure of police to identify a serial rapist, whose victims spanned across decades.

Christine, a hairdresser in the small northeastern town of Mauberge in France, is sexually assaulted on her way to work. Regaining consciousness, she bravely attends her local police station to report the incident.

Part two follows at 10.05pm. Irene Dereux, a young investigating judge, realises that a case she has been assigned has striking similarities with others.

She doggedly attempts to persuade the police that they have a serial rapist on their hands and that a thorough investigation is imperative if they are to prevent more women from being assaulted.

Learning to Live Together: The Return of Mad Dogs and Englishmen, 9.00pm, Sky Arts

In the spring of 1970, Joe Cocker undertook what became the legendary 20th-century musical experiment - a traveling rock 'n’ roll commune that crisscrossed the USA on a private jet.

This meteoric tour came and went over a magical two months and as a one-time-only experience, it developed a mythical status amongst music fans throughout the world.

Many attempts have been made to reunite the Mad Dogs, but it was never recreated in any way, shape or form. Well, until now.

John Kearns: The Varnishing Days, 9.00pm, Sky Comedy

Taped at London’s Royal Court Theatre, The Varnishing Days promises to be a heart-stopping, glasses-dropping, hard-rocking, wig-shaking, levothyroxine-taking, knee-knocking, boot-licking, justifying, teeth rattling, digressing show from award winning stand-up comedian and Taskmaster star John Kearns.

This hasn’t got great reviews. But you’d never know.

In 1964, 19-year-old serial killer Bobby (Jacob Elordi) is picked up by celebrity animal handler, Jim (Zachary Quinto), on a desolate stretch of Route 66 with priceless cargo in tow: Jim's chimpanzee, Spanky, an American TV darling.

As stress between Bobby and Jim rises and their fiery personalities combust, the road only becomes more treacherous the farther they go.

Passport to Pimlico, 1.15pm, BBC Two

Another classic Ealing comedy, starring Stanley Holloway and Margaret Rutherford.

The residents of a London suburb discover documents proving their neighbourhood is not part of Britain and declare independence.

Appointing their own head of state, they begin erecting borders as the government resorts to desperate measures to bring the community back under British rule.

Followed at 2.40pm by Jailhouse Rock, where Elvis Presley plays a petty hoodlum imprisoned for manslaughter who’s taught how to play the guitar by his cellmate and becomes an international rock 'n' roll star.

Later at 5.15pm there’s Porridge, the 1979 film based on the hugely popular BBC sitcom set in prison and starring Ronnie Barker.

Family Flick

Tooth Fairy, 6.35pm, RTÉ One

This family comedy stars Dwayne Johnson, Ashley Judd, Stephen Merchant, Ryan Sheckler and Seth MacFarlane.

A minor-league ice hockey player is nicknamed the Tooth Fairy for knocking opponents' teeth out on the ice.

When the cynical athlete discourages a young fan, he is forced to pay penance by spending a week as the real Tooth Fairy, rediscovering his dreams in the process.

Paris Paralympics 2024, from 9.00am, RTÉ2

Coverage of the morning's action on day two begins at 9.00am.

The best of the morning's action on day three. There's live action from the pool at Paris La Defense Arena, as heats in freestyle, backstroke and individual medley get underway.

Plus, time-trialling and individual pursuit at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome National Velodrome, and athletics at Stade de France. With commentary by Declan Quigley and Peter Ryan.

Further coverage of day two in France continues at 12.35pm, More live action from day three of the Games, including four track cycling finals at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome, table tennis at South Paris Arena and shooting at Chateauroux Shooting Centre.

In the pool at Paris La Defense Arena, there are finals in the men's and women's SM7 200m individual medley and S11 50m freestyle.

Over at Stade de France, medals are awarded in the women's T38 100m and T47 500m and the men's T54 5,000m, T63 long jump and T12 100m.
