Niall Horan delighted fans during his sold-out Dublin show at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on Friday night by bringing out singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran for a duet.

The 30-year-old Mullingar man belted out tracks from his three studio albums, including his biggest hits - Slow Hands, Nice To Meet Ya and This Town.

Introducing his "good friend" on stage, the former One Direction star explained how 33-year-old Sheeran "loves" Ireland "dearly".

Horan said: "He loves this country dearly and made his way across from England today to be here with us tonight. Can you please give it up for my good friend, the great Ed Sheeran."

The pair sang Horan's chart-topping hit Little Things, with both musicians strumming away together.

It comes as Sheeran also surprised Taylor Swift fans last week as he joined her on stage in Wembley at the Eras Tour.

Horan is set to play a second gig at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on Saturday, 24 August. The concerts mark the star's first headline run since 2018's Flicker World Tour.

The Show: Live On Tour kicked off in February with two nights in Belfast SSE Arena. He has since played gigs in Europe, Australia and Asia, and wrapped up the North American leg in August.

Following his two-night stint in Ireland, Horan will head to Central and South America.

Announcing the gigs, Horan said that his "favourite thing in the world is being on tour."

"Performing my songs for my fans and sharing those incredible moments together are the reason why I write music in the first place," he said.

"This is going to be my best tour yet and I cannot wait to see all you 'lovers' on the road in 2024.

"There's nothing better than watching the crowd sing back to you with all that emotion on their faces and knowing that they’re attaching the song to something meaningful in their own lives. To me, that’s always the greatest thing that can ever come from songwriting."

Horan will be supported by American musician Del Water Gap and singer Elle Coves.
