The epic sci-fi animated comedy series from Matt Groening and David X Cohen returns with ten all-new episodes.

On this orbit around the sun, our occasionally heroic crew embarks on mind-bending adventures involving birthday party games to the death, the secrets of Bender's ancestral robot village, AI friends (and enemies), impossibly cute beanbags, and the true 5-million-year-old story behind the consciousness-altering substance known as coffee.

And, of course, the next chapter in Fry and Leela's fateful, time-twisted romance.

Eiffel Tower: Building the Impossible, 9.00pm, BBC Four

A timely look at this iconic structure.

This is a look at what it took for pioneering engineer Gustave Eiffel to build the famous French landmark.

The programme portrays the rise of Eiffel at the heart of the industrial revolution, while chronicling his technical and architectural adventure to build the tower.

Lasair, 7.15pm, TG4

An Cosc is a short film based on true events, set in the 1930s, about two friends from opposite sides of town who share a voracious passion for hurling.

When local pride and sporting politics interfere, it sparks a bitter fall-out between the pair and has unforeseen consequences for the first President of Ireland.

With Diarmaid Murtagh, Cillian O'Sullivan and Eamonn Hunt.

Snowden, 9.30pm, TG4

Oliver Stone's fact-based thriller about US whistleblower Edward Snowden, who was working for America's National Security Agency when he made public thousands of classified documents.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars, alongside Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage.

24 Hours in A&E, 9.00pm, Channel 4

More stories of people who changed the course of their lives by taking huge risks, including a consultant who swapped an army career for the frontline of emergency medicine.

Two motorcyclists are brought in after high-speed impacts, while a retired coal miner experiences major chest pains.

Spent, 11.05pm, BBC Two

Great to see Matt King (Super Hans in Peep Show) pop up here.

Anyway: a flashback to 2014 shows Mia at the height of her powers, and her spending, while a visit from Jo reveals that their friendship is complicated.

In the present, Mia drives a wedge between the two as she raises suspicions about Jo's fiancé.

Elsewhere, Mia needs convincing to pawn her expensive watch and save her dad Teddy from eviction.

Love Island: The Live Final, 9.00pm, Virgin Media Two

The summer of love is almost over.

After eight dramatic weeks of coupling up, dumpings and bombshells, one couple will come out on top to be crowned the winners of this 11th season of Love Island.

But who will receive the £50,000 cash prize?

Host Maya Jama presents all the drama of the final.

Jamie: What to Eat this Week, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Jamie Oliver (below) rounds off his summer with some seasonal plums, as he rustles up a sauce to serve with crispy duck, and then harvests some honey from his beehives.

He then griddles and chars some peppers on the BBQ to add to a pepper panzanella salad, and makes sour cherry frangipane, served with creme fraiche and sticky cherries.

The Turkish Detective, 9.00pm, BBC Two

The crime drama, starring Haluk Bilginer and Ethan Kai, comes to a conclusion.

The team finally learns the truth about Kayra Khan, but bringing someone to justice will be tough on everyone.

Meanwhile Chief inspector Ikmen faces an uphill struggle to convince his superiors to commit to his plan.

Sport

Paris Olympics 2024: AM, 8.55am, RTÉ2

The opening coverage on day three of the Games, where those involved include defending Olympic diving champion Tom Daley (below) at the Aquatics Centre.

The men's hockey at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium continues with the Pool B match between Ireland and Australia, and the team and individual equestrian jumping disciplines also take place at the Chateau de Versailles.

Meanwhile there are more swimming heats at La Defense Arena and rowing semi-finals, including the men's and women's single sculls at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

Evanne Ní Chuilinn is joined by Barry Murphy, Gillian Pinder, Grainne Murphy, and Tom Freyne.

Then at 1.30pm there’s Paris Olympics 2024: Today, where events include the conclusion of the men's mountain biking cross-country race at Elancourt Hill.

There's also the pool match between Australia and Ireland in the women's rugby sevens, the team and individual equestrian jumping finals and, from 4.30pm at the Bercy Arena, the men's artistic gymnasts team final gets under way.

Peter Collins presents, with analysis from Darren Cave (above), Sene Naoupou and Tom Freyne.

Finally, at 7.15pm there’s Paris Olympics 2024: Tonight, where swimming takes centre stage, with five finals taking place in the pool.

There’s the women's 400m individual medley at 7.30pm, men's 200m freestyle at 7.43pm, men's 100m backstroke at 8.22pm, women's 100m breaststroke at 8.32pm and women's 200m freestyle at 8.48pm.

Other sports continuing into this evening include women's basketball, men's boxing and the women's rugby sevens.
