Pick of the Day

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, 9.00pm, BBC Three

This new crime comedy/drama is based on the novel by Holly Jackson, and stars Emma Myers and Zain Iqbal.

The disappearance of 17-year-old Andie Bell has haunted the town of Little Kilton for five years, a confessional text pointed the blame at her boyfriend Sal after he took his own life.

Now, inquisitive teenage amateur sleuth Pip Fitz-Amobi is determined to clear his name and get to the bottom of what really happened.

The great Anna Maxwell Martin (remember her in Motherland?) pops up as Pip’s mother.

I’m not expecting the new Search Party, but this should be fun.

At the time, the series proved so shocking with its depiction of judicial corruption that it resulted in questions being asked in the UK’s House of Commons.

Don’t Miss

This 2013 thriller, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, is best experienced in an Imax theatre – but it’s still a dizzying yarn with outstanding special effects.

Sport

Live UEFA Euro 2024, 7.00pm, RTÉ2

Streaming on RTÉ Player

It’s Netherlands v England (KO 8pm) in the second Euro 2024 semi-final, which comes from BVB Stadion Dortmund.

England secured their place in the semi-final - despite being duller than an Irish summer, and with major question marks over coach Gareth Southgate and skipper Harry Kane.

Underwhelming performances in the group stage have been followed with two spells of extra-time against Slovakia and Switzerland, with the latter tie going to a penalty shootout.

The Netherlands came through their group as one of the best third-placed teams, before beating Romania and Turkiye to reach a Euro semi-final for the first time in 20 years.

Ronald Koeman is their head coach and was a key part of the only Dutch side to win the tournament, back in 1988, when they defeated Ireland along the way.

Joanne Cantwell presents, with analysis from Dietmar Hamann and Kevin Doyle.
