The band is the latest musical venture for Irish acts The Hot Sprockets and Punch Face Champions and features Tim, Franky Kelly on vocals, organ, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, percussion, Joey Lynch on bass, backing vocals, and Ste Ryan on drums and backing vocals.

Speaking about Hanging Out With A-Tray, Tim says, "It’s sort of an ode to the Knockanstockan festival, to the people that made it happen, to the bands that played it, to the people that went to it, and to the friends I made along the way."

DOGPOND also play an acoustic set at Irish Frequency Podcast Charity Gig, The Racket Space on Saturday 27 July.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

We are a four-piece. Three of us have been mates since we were kids. Two of us only started playing music and singing in our twenties.

How would you describe your music?

We're a very eclectic band because we all listen to different things, and don't try to write a particular style, so each song can be very different. We probably fall somewhere between indie, garage, rock, blues, soul, folk, and lo-fi dream pop.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Villagers, Fionn Regan, The Mighty Stef/Stefan Murphy, Neil Young, Black Mountain, CSNY, The Band, Bob Dylan, The Fugs, Elliot Smith, Ween, Beck, The Raconteurs, QOTSA, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Bob Log III, Bill Withers, James Brown, Labi Siffre, The Kinks, The Beatles, Super Furry Animals, The Incredible String Band, etc. etc.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Can't remember the first gig I ever went to. I used to go to local gigs with my family, and to my cousin Bobby's gigs, he was in a group called The Dublin City Workingman's Band, they played like trad ballads and folk songs; so, they were probably my first gigs. Other than that, I remember getting free tickets to a gig in the Phoenix Park when I was around 13/14 that had Turn, Blink 182, and Lulu playing.

What was the first record you ever bought?

The album Dangerous by Micheal Jackson, it was actually a tape.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Cheekface - You Always Want to Bomb the Middle East.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Bob Dylan - Masters of War. That song, as a whole, is amazing, and still so relevant.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tenacious D - Tribute.
