There were whoops of delight in Malmö on Thursday night as Ireland's 1992 Eurovision winner Linda Martin returned to the Swedish city to surprise fans ahead of Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final.

The Belfast singer took to the stage at the Eurovision Euroclub to perform her winning song, Why Me?.

It was in Malmö on 9 May 1992 that Martin powered Ireland to Eurovision glory with Why Me?.

On Thursday night, she was presented with flowers and a bottle of Champagne as she celebrated the anniversary of her Eurovision win.

From Why Me? to Bambie - it's all fingers crossed now for Ireland's Bambie Thug in Saturday's grand final.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1's Today with Colm Ó Mongáin on Friday, Eurovision commentator Marty Whelan said Ireland is "in with a great chance" and "there's a very strong sense that we are going to do exceptionally well".

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final airs on RTÉ One, RTÉ 2FM, and the RTÉ Player from 8pm on Saturday.
