Switzerland's Eurovision act Nemo has saluted Ireland's Bambie Thug, saying that it is "so beautiful" that they have the opportunity to experience the song contest together as non-binary artists.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday night after qualifying for Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Nemo said: "I just want to say also [a] huge, huge shoutout to Bambie Thug.

"We were texting this morning and just knowing that I'm not the only one (non-binary artist) this year and we're in this together is so beautiful, because I feel like we get to share so much of a common experience even though we're so different.

"But we still... I feel like we have so much in common and we just 'get' each other and it's so nice to share that experience with another person. I'm really grateful."

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final airs on RTÉ One, RTÉ 2FM, and the RTÉ Player from 8pm on Saturday

"I think it's really important that we have so much queer representation this year in general," Nemo continued.

"There's so many queer artists and people out there are watching and they're inspired.

"I know how much queer icons meant to me throughout my life and to be able to look up to other people and see that you can do anything as a queer person is amazing and has helped me in my life, so I'm just glad to be a little part of that this year."

Nemo is currently third-favourite to win the Eurovision with their song, The Code. Bambie Thug is currently ranked fourth with Doomsday Blue.

Ireland will perform tenth on Saturday. Switzerland will perform 21st.

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final airs on RTÉ One, RTÉ 2FM, and the RTÉ Player from 8pm on Saturday.
