The 22-year-old has played at the CCI Paris, the Ruby Sessions, the Sligo Arts Festival, Trinity Arts Festival, TradFest and Le Boom's summer festival series 2023.

Shiny Things will be marked with a launch gig in Little Whelan's on Friday 10 May.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

First, I am doing this interview instead of an essay on the theories of political rights, which brings me to the second thing about myself. I have lived a double life since starting this whole music palaver, studying Politics (oh dear god) in Dublin, which brings me to my third point. This degree is about as unstable as a musician’s. Therefore, I am here choosing to be a musician.

How would you describe your music?

Alternative-folk.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Music was always played around the house. Personally, I became attached to the likes of Philip Glass, Thom Yorke and Lambchop. Over time, I got more into folky, singer-songwriters such as Laura Marling, Beth Orton and Lisa Hannigan, probably coinciding with growing up and relating more-so to the women in the business.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My first gig was Neil Young in the 3Arena. My Dad brought me hoping to unlock (I assume) some sort of cosmic explosion of inspiration. Let’s just say, Neil opted for his very heavy set that night! Three and a half hours later on a school night, I thought, I’m not cut out for this. I’ve since changed my mind and I’d tour with Neil Young any day.

What was the first record you ever bought?

The first record I bought myself was Broken Social Scene's Hug of Thunder. It would’ve been purchased on iTunes and downloaded for a flight. I actually had the CD, but sure that was no good on a plane. I think I was about fifteen. I thought they had it all figured out.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Right now, I’m loving Anthem by Leonard Cohen. It’s all a bit dreary in the college library studying for final exams.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"I used to hate my body, but now I just hate you." Fenne Lily.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

For me this has to be Ol’55 by Tom Waits. I would also listen to only this album for the rest of my life.

Where can people find your music/more information?

My music is on all streaming platforms under 'Evie.’ My Instagram is @eviemusicdublin and the same goes for TikTok (if you dare). I have a website.
