Contemporary traditional band Flook and special guest Scottish fiddle and viola player Patsy Reid tour Ireland from 8 to 19 May. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Flook is comprised of Brian Finnegan on whistles and flute, Sarah Allen on flutes and piano accordion, Ed Boyd on guitar, and John Joe Kelly on bodhrán.

Formed in 1996, they released their most recent album, Ancora, in 2019 to critical acclaim and a nomination for BBC Folk Album of the Year.

Patsy has performed alongside Kylie Minogue, Kathryn Tickell, Michael McGoldrick, and Julie Fowlis.

The tour takes in dates in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Wexford, Laois, Louth, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo. Tickets and more information available on the Music Network website.

Brian: I have mottephobia.

Sarah: My favourite animal is a wombat.

Ed: I was once in a small ensemble French play called Le Dernier Couteau alongside Steve Coogan's brother.

Patsy: I'm now 40 years old. I’ve recently discovered yoga! I starting planted my greenhouse crop yesterday - pumpkins, tomatoes and coriander so far!

How would you describe your music?

Brian: Traditionally rooted, contemporary instrumental music.

Who are your musical inspirations?

John: Johnny Ringo, Steve Gadd Zakir Hussain.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Ed: John Renbourn, Smith Bros Folk Club, Bath, circa 1982.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Sarah: Long Haired Lover from Liverpool by Jimmy Osmond.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Patsy: What Matters by Laura Mvula, featuring Simon Neil.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Sarah: birdsong.
