Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker has praised the "great hosts" at RTÉ lyric fm as the station celebrates its milestone 25th birthday this week and says, "We are very fortunate to have you filling our days with beautiful music".

The 59-year-old actress, who has shared many a love letter to Ireland on her social media accounts during her visits to her holiday home in Donegal, also gave a shoutout to Weekend Drive presenter, Evelyn Grant.

Taking to Instagram, Jessica Parker, said: "Happy 25th birthday to @rtelyricfm!!! To Evelyn Grant and all the great hosts at Lyric, we are very fortunate to have you filling our days with beautiful music.

"Here's to the next 25 musical years".

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, Evelyn Grant said she couldn't get over "how generous" SJP's shoutout was and admits it was an "incredibly powerful way to spread the word about Lyric".

She said: "My first reaction was how generous it was of her to post about Lyric. With nearly 10 million followers, that is just an incredibly powerful way to spread the word about Lyric. I was really touched," she said.

Movies and Musicals presenter, Aedín Gormley, was thrilled with Jessica Parker's post and thanked the Hollywood star for her "lovely message".

Former Xpose host, Lisa Cannon, also dropped a post in the comment section and joked about how she wished she knew SJP "loved Lyric back when I worked on SATC".

Last week, Parker shared a screenshot of lyric fm as she listened to Lyric Through the Night.

She captioned the post: "Nice. I try to remember. Cause it's always so lovely. X, SJ #rtéradio."

Parker, who has been married to Ferris Bueller's Day Off star Broderick since 1997, has previously taken to social media to rave about Kerrygold and also praised the brand on a recent BBC4 podcast, saying that the butter turned food into "heaven", adding, "We are crazy about potatoes and butter."

She and Broderick celebrated last New Year’s Eve in Cill Charthaigh, Co Donegal before they both began a run in Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite in the West End, London.

The pair are regular visitors to Ireland and are reported to spend their summer holidays in the northwest with their children, son James (21) and twins Tabitha and Marion (14).
