Kylie Minogue among acts to play Electric Picnic

Kylie Minogue, Kneecap, The Wolfe Tones, Noah Kahan and Raye are among the acts who will perform at the Electric Picnic music festival this August in Stradbally, Co Laois.

Calvin Harris, Jazzy, Kodaline and Faithless are also among the fifty acts who will play the sold-out weekend over the earlier dates of Friday, 16 to Sunday 18 August at Stradbally Hall.

This year's event is celebrating its 20th anniversary and it will see Harris, breakthrough artist Kahan, who has had a massive hit in Ireland with his song Stick Season, and Kylie make their Electric Picnic debuts.

Belfast rap trio Kneecap have enjoyed a meteoric rise this year, winning acclaim for their semi-autobiographical Irish language film at the Sundance Film Festival ahead of the release of their debut album in the coming weeks.

The Wolfe Tones, who recently announced that they are retiring from the music industry, make their Electric Picnic return to perform on the Main Stage following their record crowds at last year's festival.

Following the revival of her hit Murder on the Dancefloor after it featured in the movie Saltburn, Sophie Ellis-Bextor will also play the weekend.

As well as Kodaline, The Wolfe Tones, Ivor Novello nominee Jazzy, and Kneecap, there is a strong showing for Irish artists on the line-up, with Damien Dempsey, Moncrieff, Amble, Kojaque, The Scratch, NewDad and Darren Kiely all taking to EP stages this year.

Tickets for this year's Electric Picnic sold out last September within an hour of going on sale.

Speaking about the line-up announcement, Festival Director Melvin Benn said, "Electric Picnic is the slightly earlier jewel in the crown of the festival calendar this year of course and what a crown it is.

"A crown that 75,000 people get to wear and be part of and what a lineup they have to be part of. The Wolfe Tones returning was a must. The Scratch and The Waterboys are unmissable for me.

"Noah taking the world by storm and Calvin blowing our minds and then…. Kylie! What more can I say. The Picnic really is my joyous weekend."

Electric Picnic debuted as a one-day event in 2004, with sets from Jurassic 5, Grand Master Flash, and Super Furry Animals, and has evolved into Ireland's largest music and arts festival, with 75,000 festivalgoers expected at the event this year.
