Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Angus: I feel most at home on the ocean. I love collecting antique treasures from around the world. I love solitude.

How would you describe your music?

Angus: It’s an insight into our experiences as we’ve navigated our journey through the world.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Julia: Some of my biggest inspirations are experiences with love and loss. Exploration of the constantly changing circumstances. Change is so inspiring. There’s a real aliveness as the world shifts under your feet, which seems to happen more and more.

As far as the musical inspirations - some of the most powerful moments are those songs that have sound-tracked our lives. The greats that we grew up with have a strong powerful root in our beings. Their lyrics and melodies are woven through the memories that make us who we are. Artists that mum and dad played like Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Janis Joplin, and so on. Their ability to craft captivating songs with raw emotion and poetic lyricism deeply influences our song writing to this day.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Julia: The first real gig I went to was Midnight Oil. It was a small local show where they were supporting the conservation of a local waterway. The intimate atmosphere combined with the raw energy of the performance by Peter Garrett and the band left a lasting impression.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Angus: No word of a lie, the first record I bought was No Need To Argue by The Cranberries from Warringah Mall. Zombie was playing everywhere in Australia at the time and Santa had given me a CD player for Christmas.

What is your favourite song right now?

Angus: Currently, my favourite song is Isak Roen and Key Kelly’s Vampire Heart.

What is your favourite lyric of all time?

Julia: "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" - The End by The Beatles.

If I could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Julia: I’d rather sit in silence. Are you kidding me, one song over and over till you die, it’d drive me round the bend.
