RTÉ 2XM presenter and producer Kate Brennan Harding launches Peach, a new pop-up club at Hen's Teeth, Dublin on 12 April. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

"Peach is a pop-up party for women who occupy the LGBTQ-plus spectrum," she says. "This is an inclusive space and pals of gals are more than welcome!"

Kate, who will also be playing at All Together Now with fellow 2fm DJ Graham Smyth this August, was a Gold Winner at the Irish Podcast Awards 2022, an IMRO award winner in 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022 and a New York Radio Festivals trophy winner 2018 and 2019.

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Ooh, what can you say in three sentences, I am a DJ/broadcaster/producer and I adore almost all music, supporting Irish music has been a passion of mine for over a decade. I am a Dubliner who lives in Galway. Secret introvert!!

How would you describe your music?

I play other people’s music, but I love selecting joyful music in such a way that people lose their inhibitions and the space is filled with smiling faces.

Who are your musical inspirations?

David Bowie, Roisin Murphy, Giorgio Moroder, Faithless, Oasis and Fontaines D.C.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My mum brought me to see Simply Red in The Point back in the mid-nineties. I loved their hit Fairground. When I think back on that night, I feel a wave of nostalgia for how innocent I was then. I didn't see things as 'cool' per se, I just liked what I liked, it would only take a few months before my Oasis obsession would begin and teenage rebellion!

What was the first record you ever bought?

My first record was bought for me by my Dad, in Golden Discs in Stillorgan Shopping Centre. It was Culture Club’s Karma Chameleon and I would have just turned three.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Hmm, this is somewhat impossible to answer, but Nadine Shah’s Topless Mother from her utterly superb album Filthy Underneath is at the top of my playlist for the last few weeks.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Oasis - Live Forever: 'Maybe you're the same as me, we see things they'll never see, you and I are gonna live forever."

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is easy, Donna Summer - I Feel Love, I probably listen to this song a few times every week. I think it is woven through the fabric of my being.

Where can people find your music/more information?

My show on RTÉ 2XM where I play a rather varied mix of genres with a heavy leaning towards Irish.

Alan Corr
