The beginning of the GAA championships is always a time of optimism for supporters up and down the land.

For the first live coverage of the campaign, Joanne Cantwell (above) is joined by Paul Flynn and Peter Canavan for the Monaghan v Cavan preliminary-round tie (throw-in 4pm) in the Ulster Senior Football Championship at Clones.

Monaghan reached the semi-finals in last season's competition, losing out to eventual champions Derry, while Cavan were eliminated in the quarter-finals by runners-up Armagh.

The Darkest Days: Israel-Gaza Six Months On, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Hamas's murderous rampage through southern Israel in October provoked a major hostage crisis and a devastating war that has led to Israel being accused of genocide.

At least 30,000 Palestinians are reported to have been killed in Gaza in Israel's retaliatory attacks, intended to root out Hamas, which have left much of the territory in ruins.

Six months on, BBC correspondent Lyse Doucet presents searing accounts of the human cost on both sides, with eyewitness reports from both Israel and Gaza, and explores what it will take to bring about a lasting peace.

Slí na mBeaglaoich, 9.30pm, TG4

Back for a third run, Breanndán and Cormac Ó Beaglaoich take on an Irish musical journey in their beloved campervan, Beauty.

This time around, they travel up through the midlands from Limerick to Fermanagh, following the route of the majestic River Shannon, immersing themselves in the rich musical and cultural tapestry of the 'belly' of Ireland.

In this episode, the duo leave West Kerry and travel to Limerick, into East Clare and up as far as Tipperary.

Transatlantic Sessions - Togha agus Rogha, 10.30pm, TG4

Julie Fowlis and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh return to present a second season of highlights from two decades of the legendary music show, featuring musical stars from Ireland, the UK and the US.

Fans of Transatlantic Sessions can see Sarah Jarosz and Alison Krauss (above) sing Run Away and Sharon Shannon and Jim Murray give an uplifting performance of Dreamcatcher - Off the Hook.

Karen Matheson is joined by Cara Dillon to close the programme with a rousing performance of The Diamond Ring.

The Great Inspo Home Adventure with James Kavanagh, 8.00pm, Virgin Media One

James and William have a mortgage offer - now they just need some more Inspo. They both visit a wooden house on stilts in county Leitrim.

James visits a couple who have moved back from London to design a super-stylish house in Wicklow powered by solar power.

Finally, the pair pack their suitcases and head to Derry to overnight at a unique cottage. Half-ruin and half-shipping container, it’s owned by award winning architect Patrick Bradley.

Flat Pack Pop: Sweden's Music Miracle, 7.00pm, BBC Four

A night of Eurovision-related prgramming begins with James Ballardie charting Sweden's rise as a musical superpower, exploring the unique songwriting formula that inspired some of the biggest hits of the last 30 years.

Then at 8pm there’s Hannah Waddingham's Eurovision 1974 Celebration.

Waddingham (above) presents a special celebration to mark 50 years since Abba's victory with Waterloo at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest.

That’s followed at 8.10pm by - what else? - Eurovision Song Contest - Grand Final: 1974, the 19th annual Eurovision Song Contest, first broadcast in April 1974 from The Dome in Brighton.

I'm pretty sure this won't have aged well.

Finally at 10pm there’s Eurovision at 60, a documentary looking at the song contest since its launch in 1956 up to 2015.

The programme reveals how the annual event has blossomed from involving just seven countries to attracting some 195 million viewers across the continent.

Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate, Sky Cinema & NOW

In this animated sequel, Megamind’s former villain team, The Doom Syndicate, has returned.

The newly crowned blue hero must now keep up evil appearances until he can assemble his friends (Roxanne, Ol’ Chum, and Keiko) to stop his former evil teammates from launching Metro City to the moon.

The voice cast includes Keith Ferguson, Laura Post, Josh Brener, Maya Aoki Tuttle, Emily Tunon and Talon Warburton.

Sunday Cinema

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, 11.40pm, BBC One

It’s on terribly late for a Sunday, but this Cold War thriller based on John le Carré's 1974 novel is worth the effort.

It stars the Oscar-nominated Gary Oldman, alongside Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds and Roger Lloyd Pack.

Oldman plays George Smiley, the deputy to the head of British intelligence, who is forced into retirement after an operation ends in disaster with the death of an MI6 agent.

Smiley is later recruited by the government to return to duty and investigate the possibility of a Soviet mole in a high-ranking position within MI6.

Julius Caesar, 12 noon, BBC Two

Impressive adaptation of Shakespeare's play dealing with political ambition and a battle for power in ancient Rome, telling the story of cunning statesmen plotting to overthrow their ruler.

The cast list is enough to make any director or movie fan start drooling - Marlon Brando (who scored an Oscar nomination for his performance as Mark Antony), James Mason, John Gielgud, Greer Garson, Louis Calhern and Deborah Kerr are among the talent on display.

Family Flick

Horrible Histories: The Movie, 3.05pm, BBC One

Family comedy, starring Sebastian Croft, Nick Frost and Craig Roberts, based on the book series of the same name by author Terry Deary, and the television series of 2009 and 2015 on CBBC.

Atti is a smart and quick-witted Roman teenager who manages to upset Emperor Nero with one of his schemes. For punishment, he’s sent to work in a cold and wet Britain, where he also meets the Celts.
