Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I’m a mixed-race girl from South London, artist, songwriter and vocal producer and very randomly a day skipper as I got into sailing in lockdown.

How would you describe your music?

Anthemic dance pop.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Whitney, Prince, Fink, Skunk Anansie, Ella Fitzgerald, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5 (Songs About Jane album), The Script and Norah Jones.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I think I was pretty young but it would’ve been my Uncle Mike in his band The Flying Pickets. They did really well back in the day :-)

What was the first record you ever bought?

Baby One More Time by Britney at Woolworths with pocket money, Then Destiny’s Child’s Writing’s on the Wall album.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Oo, I love High Contrast’s Can’t Give You Up’ and Take it Off by Fisher ft Attic.

Favourite lyric of all time?

It has to be, "The way you smile when you believe in your future is different" - Breathe by Seinabo Sey. It really hit me the first time I heard that and I was on a path of digging deep into believing in my own journey and vision for myself.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I think it would have to be Diamonds & Pearls by Prince, Rosie Gains & NPG. It truly is one of the greatest records of all time. Ok that and Don Henley’s Boys of Summer.

Where can people find your music/more information?

I’m @kellileighuk across all socials. Kelli-Leigh and my website.
