It’s back for a 20th season. They must be doing quite a few somethings right.
John Torode and Gregg Wallace present the first of five heats in the cookery competition, with the first group of six hopefuls challenged to turn an everyday ingredient into something spectacular.
In the invention test, the contestants are tasked with creating a dish celebrating one of Gregg's favourite foods: potato gnocchi.
Finally, they must prepare a two-course menu for 2023 champion Chariya Khattiyot and finalists Anurag Aggarwal and Omar Foster.

Photographer Tish Murtha (who came from an Irish immigrant family) emerged from the Northeast of England during Margaret Thatcher's Britain, exposing class prejudices, unemployment, and the struggles and triumphs of her local community.
Now, her daughter, Ella Murtha, looks at her late mother's long-hidden archive of black and white images, personal artifacts, letters and diaries. She was only 56 when she died.
I can’t remember where, but I saw an exhibition of her work some years ago and it was both impressive and moving.
Monsoon Railway, 7.10pm, BBC Four
This is the first of two programmes charting life on India's rail network through the monsoon season.
It focuses on the daily routine of three workers - a train guard, a traffic inspector and an assistant driver - revealing how the service is vital for the country's population and demonstrating the destructive potential of the rains.

This was on before, but well worth another look – or maybe you missed it the first time around?
It’s a two-part profile of Paula Yates (below, with Bob Geldof), featuring never-before-heard audio interviews she recorded after the death of her partner Michael Hutchence in 1997.
Part one focuses on Paula's rise to fame, her groundbreaking appearances on The Tube and the huge fame she and husband Bob Geldof experienced after the success of global charity Live Aid.
With contributions from Terence Trent D'Arby, Robbie Williams, Nicky Clarke and Vanessa Feltz.

Clive Myrie (below) hosts the grand final of the quiz as six contestants take to the famous black chair to try to be crowned champion.
The specialist subjects are the Wimbledon singles championships 2000 to present, artist Francis Bacon, Ancient Greek poet Sappho, the Mercury Prize, French revolutionary the Marquis de Lafayette, and composer and pianist Clara Schumann, before the contenders are tested on their general knowledge.
Anton & Giovanni's Adventures in Spain, 8.00pm, BBC One
Anton Du Beke and Giovanni Pernice conclude their journey in the Basque region, where they spend the night in a medieval castle.
They are joined by Anton's wife, twins and his mother, leading to an emotional journey to the village where he grew up.
The trip ends in Bilbao, where they perform at the Semana Grande festival to an audience of over 30,000 people.
