Pick of the Day
This Town, 9.00pm, BBC One
This new drama is by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Got to be worth a look . . .
In stark contrast to that gangster series set in early 20th Century England, This Town follows young people drawn into the ska and two-tone scene in the English Midlands during the early 1980s.
The story unfolds in 1981, as Birmingham is thrown into political and social unrest as Thatcherism takes hold.
Dante wanders through a riot and finds himself in a new world that is surprising, dangerous, and full of opportunity. In other words, he joins a band.
Irish actor Peter McDonald plays Eamonn Quinn, the father of one of the band members - he's also a member of the IRA.
McDonald's fellow Irish actors Séainín Brennan and Brendan Gibson are also part of the This Town ensemble alongside Michelle Dockery, Nicholas Pinnock, David Dawson and Geraldine James.

Before that at 8pm there’s Bullseyes and Beer: When Darts Hit Britain - a Timeshift documentary about the history of darts, as it transformed from a traditional working-class pub game into a world-recognised sport.
