Amy Huberman, Ardal O'Hanlon and Deirdre O'Kane are amongst the cast members confirmed for the upcoming Irish mockumentary Fran The Man.

The film from writer Richie Conroy (Two by Two, Malory Towers) and director Stephen Bradley (Last One Laughing, Noble) has begun filming in Dublin.

The feature-length comedy centres around Fran Costello, the much-loved star of the football mockumentary series Fran which aired on Setanta Sports and TV3 from 2009 - 2011.

Fran The Man sees him working undercover to save the beautiful game from match-fixing.

Darragh Humphreys reprises his role from the series, surrounded by an Irish ensemble cast including Huberman (Flora & Son), O’Hanlon (Father Ted), O'Kane (Noble), Risteard Cooper (Après Match) and Toni O’Rourke (God’s Creatures).

Fran The Man is produced by Collie McCarthy's Forty Foot Pictures with support from Screen Ireland and RTÉ.

Director Bradley said of the project: "I'm very happy to be shooting Fran The Man with Richie Conroy’s very funny and clever script, under the banner of Collie McCarthy’s Forty Foot Pictures.

"We have assembled an inspiring cast and crew and their energy will be up on screen in the form of loads of laughs and a whole lot of heart."

Producer McCarthy added: "It's great to be up and running with my first feature on home soil. The script is a gem and it’s been a joy to see this incredibly talented cast and crew bring it to life".
