The Late Late Show paid its touching tribute to the late Charlie Bird on Friday night.

The charity campaigner and former RTÉ journalist died on Monday aged 74 after a long battle with motor neurone disease.

Introducing the tribute, Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty said: "On a weekend where we bring Ireland to the world, we'd like to take a moment to remember the man who brought the world to so many living rooms here in Ireland for so many years.

"Earlier this week, we said goodbye to the brilliant Charlie Bird, a man who told us the news and whose journey these past few years became the news and inspired us all."
