Netflix has announced it is to produce a series adaptation of Marian Keyes' bestselling novel Grown Ups, to launch on the platform in 2026.

The series will be adapted for the screen and executive produced by Australian screenwriter Samantha Strauss, and produced by See Saw Films.

The series is described as an ensemble family drama, based on three couples - Nell and Liam, Cara and Ed, Jessie and Rory. The billing reads, "Like most families, the Caseys are a complicated bunch. Ever-shifting politics. Old and new resentments. Arguments that blow over quickly and hurts that are nursed forever. They’re loyal. Noisy. And bound together by a whole lot of love."

A statement from Netflix said that "casting will be announced in due course."

Commenting on the announcement, author Keyes said, "I screamed when I got this news! It’s thrilling that See-Saw and Netflix are bringing Grown Ups to the screen – they’ve already brought me so much pleasure as a viewer."

She added, "Samantha Strauss really 'gets’ the dynamics of the book and I’ve loved the treatment and scripts that I’ve seen. Honest to God, I’m overjoyed."

Exec producer Strauss said, "I have worshipped at the altar of Marian Keyes for decades and the opportunity to play in her sandpit with her wonderfully messy, complex, lovely characters is a dream come true."

Also announced by Netflix today is a new crime noir series starring Jamie Dornan.

The Undertow, set for release on the platform in 2025, sees Dornan playing the roles of identical twins, Adam and Lee, whilst Mackenzie Davis will play Adam's wife Nicola.
