Popstars Jedward have hit back at Louis Walsh after he called the duo "vile" and a "novelty act" while chatting to fellow housemates on Celebrity Big Brother.
The Dublin-born twins were mentored by Walsh on The X Factor in 2009. They went on to release four studio albums, with their first two offerings going double-platinum in Ireland.
On Tuesday's episode of the reality TV show, Walsh was asked by Coronation Street actor Colson Smith what Jedward were like. Walsh said: "They were vile… I done five million quid with them, I swear on my mother's life.
"They were vile, they were novelty, they were great for the show."
Following his remarks airing, the twins, whose real names are John and Edward Grimes, took to social media to respond to Walsh.
In a string of posts, they called him "cold-hearted" and said he "didn't even send us flowers when our mom died".
They added: "Louis reopened these wounds all by himself being spiteful and disrespectful we aren't going to have our character taken. Justice will be served."
The live audience was heard booing and chanting: "Get Louis out" outside the Big Brother house when the voting was being announced.
