Bambie Thug unveils music video for Irish Eurovision entry Doomsday Blue

Ireland's Eurovision hopeful Bambie Thug has released the official music video for their track Doomsday Blue.

The video depicts the Cork musician making a "note to self" to place a hex on their ex-boyfriend and conjure up a "better new boyfriend" who they can have a tea party with.

However, the reality turns nightmarish when Bambie finds themselves being chased through a forest by a seven-foot-tall hairy monster.

Speaking about making the video, Bambie Thug said: "Filming the music video for Doomsday Blue was mad! I'm so proud to have worked with an amazing team filled with so many queer and non-binary people.

"Camp (production company) are a dream to work with, and while the turnaround was ridiculously fast, there was a lot of heart and passion poured into it and I'm super grateful.

"Originally the story for the video was very dark, but since winning the Late Late Show Eurosong, there have been so many people reaching out about how their children love the song, so I wanted to make sure the video was something enjoyable and accessible for people of all ages.

"My sister and I eventually came up with this idea of making it a little more cutesy, spooky and comedic."

They continued: "There's a lot of odes to pop culture moments in there from Mean Girls and Barbie to The Creation of Adam (Michelangelo)… obviously all made a bit goth. I'm excited to share it with everyone and have it out in the world… now I can focus on bringing it to life on stage in Malmö."

Bambie Thug will perform in the first Eurovision semi-final on Tuesday 7 May in Malmö, Sweden.

Ireland has failed to progress further than the semi-final stages at Eurovision since 2018 but performing in the first semi-final is seen as an advantage, as it gives songs a chance to become familiar with the voting public throughout the week.

The second Eurovision Song Contest semi-final will take place on 9 May, with the grand final following on 11 May.
