Tell us three things about yourself . . .

Our Mother didn't know she was having twins until she gave birth. We both have a visual art and craft background. No matter how hard we try, we both seem to be doing very similar things separately....including secretly running away with different circuses on different sides of the world at the same time. And taking up knitting and reading the same book during the first weeks of lockdown.

How would you describe your music?

Lyrical, twin-edged scrapyard folk...with a saw.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We were reared in a house that was often full of musicians in Clare, and grew up on a diet of Nick Drake, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti Smith and our mother's love of Leonard Cohen and Fatboy Slim. But mostly we were inspired by each other's imaginations and our childhood spent making up songs with our hilarious Grandfather.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

Kristin Hersh in Tower Records, Dublin when we were seven years old. She wanted to kidnap us.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Sufficiently cringeworthy, it was We Like to Party by The Vengaboys.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Julie: Sweet Mellow D by Danika.

Branwen: I'm So Glad Trouble Don't Last Always by John Jacob Niles.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Julie and Branwen both said: "God took the stars and he tossed 'em, Can't tell the birds from the blossoms... And if the sky falls, mark my words, We'll catch mockingbirds" - Green Grass, Tom Waits.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Branwen: Time Has Told Me by Nick Drake.

Julie: Three Hours by Nick Drake.
