Miley Cyrus has released the video for her latest single, Doctor (Work It Out), a collaboration with Pharrell Williams.

The video shows a feisty Cyrus in a variety of outfits, including a black and silver minidress and an elaborate blue fur coat, performing energetic dance moves against a monochromatic set.

Cyrus and Williams originally recorded the track 12 years ago, with Cyrus saying the decision to release it now "was so serendipitous, and there were so many alignments and so many moments that made me know that now was the perfect time."

"Sometimes things in our past make more sense in our present than they ever did then," she continued. "And so this song, I think the nature, the celebration, the feeling - especially with the video - the joy, the dancing, the letting go - it's what this song really always needed."

The new version has been rearranged and rerecorded from its original form.

The lyrics include, "I could be your doctor / And I could be your nurse / I think I see the problem / It's only gon' get worse."

The singer, best known from smash-hit singles The Climb, Wrecking Ball and Party in the USA, is riding the crest of a wave at the moment, after her track Flowers won a Grammy award for record of the year several weeks ago.

Earlier this week, the song was also awarded the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) Global Single Award, an accolade presented annually to the artist with the world's best-selling single of the year across all digital formats.
