After spending the past decade in Upstate New York, releasing three albums and touring, Lorkin decided to pack his bags in 2022 and move home to Dublin where he met Jonny.
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
Jonny: I grew up in the central coast of California. I recently rediscovered Mythbusters (season three to four is what’s up). I love documentaries about shipping containers and the infrastructure around them.
How would you describe your music?
Lorkin: We're both really into American old-time music and Irish folk music. I think we want to try and exist somewhere between those two worlds.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Jonny: 16 Horsepower, Planxty, Paul Brady, The Deadlians, Michael Hurley, Karen Dalton, Richie Kavanagh, Charlie Parr etc etc.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
Lorkin: Black Stone Cherry.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Jonny: Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Lorkin: Open Ended by Holly Munro.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Jonny: "Come as you are, pay as you go" - Laurie Anderson.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Lorkin: Country Blues by Doc Watson.
