Pick of the Day

Alice & Jack, 10.30pm, RTÉ One

This One Day-ish drama, starring Domhnall Gleeson and Andrea Riseborough, along with Aisling Bea and Sunil Patel, lands on Irish TV a week after its much-heralded launch across the pond on Channel 4.

When Alice and Jack first meet they are bound by a connection so powerful it seems nothing can break it. Well, until Alice kicks Jack out the next morning and tells him never to call again.

But he does. And she's delighted.

So right from the outset it’s unclear whether their path will lead them to a place of happiness and togetherness - or if such contentment will be undone by emotional complexities getting in the way.

As a result, the 16-year relationship between such imperfect lovers suffers many highs and lows.

New or Returning Shows

Inseparable Sisters, 11.40pm, BBC One

Stephen Nolan's political show pushes this back later than it should be on, but it's well worth recording.

It's the story of the seven-year-old conjoined twins Marieme and Ndeye, who weren't expected to live more than a few days but have defied all medical expectations, told by their loving father.

Highlighting the challenges they face daily from hospital visits to finding clothes they can wear, this promises to be a very moving watch.

Tuilte, 9.30pm, TG4

With storms and extreme events increasing year after year due to climate change and environmental degradation, this documentary examines the cost of the flooding that accompanies these events.

In Ireland, one of the greatest threats is to coastal and low-lying regions from sea level rise, together with increased rainfall and storm events.

40% of the population lives within 5 km of the coast, and it is estimated 70,000 Irish addresses are at risk of coastal flooding by 2050.

The documentary looks at the impact that flooding has already had on various communities throughout the country, meeting locals in Donegal who suffered serious damage in the storms of August 2017.

It also looks at the importance of flood plain management in Monaghan, and Ballybay GAA members speak about fearing for the future of their clubhouse and pitch.
