Speaking about the song, Nadia says, "While the main message in the song speaks to resilience and hope, the story of it channels my own struggles, feelings of uncertainty and battles with my personal identity. These are backed with positive intent in the knowledge and belief that things will get better."
Tell us three things about yourself . . .
I'm quite shy, but once I get to know you, I don’t shut up! I like to think of myself as a master of random facts! I have 11 siblings!
How would you describe your music?
Catchy pop music is what I like to write, but catchy pop music that can resonate with listeners on a deeper level is what I LOVE to write and that’s how I, personally would describe my music.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I grew up listening to such a diverse range of music, which I am so grateful for and I feel like it has really inspired me as a musician. Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, Beyoncé and so many other amazing musicians soundtracked my childhood and still do to this day. When writing, I would say I take some inspiration from artists such as Lana Del Rey, Halsey, Fletcher and Lorde. I also feel like this changes all the time!
What was the first gig you ever went to?
The first "big" gig I went to was Beyoncè’s Sasha Fierce World Tour 2009. This is definitely a core memory of mine, I just remember being in complete awe.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Avril Lavigne - Let Go.
What’s your favourite song right now?
I always struggle with picking favourites, it’s a tough one! At the moment, it’s probably Texas Sun by Leon Bridges and Khruangbin.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"I moved to California, but it’s just a state of mind. It turns out everywhere you go, you take yourself, that’s not a lie" - Lana Del Rey.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This question is so tough, it’s impossible to pick just one song! But I’ll go with Dreams - Fleetwood Mac for now!
Where can people find your music/more information?
You can hear my music on Spotify, Apple Music and most major streaming sites. I’ll also be posting updates and info on my Instagram and TikTok @Nadia.Desree.
