Aslan, with new singer Lee Tomkins, performed for the first time when they joined Oliver Callan on his RTÉ Radio 1 show on Monday morning.
Earlier this month, the band announced that they would embark on an Irish tour this Spring with Tomkins.
Aslan's legendary singer Christy Dignam died last June after a long illness.
"It's very emotional, actually, to be here this morning - coming in and realising this is our first performance without Christy," guitarist Billy McGuinness told host Callan.
"After 40 years together, myself, Joe (Jewell, guitar) and Alan Downey (drums) made the decision to carry on. And to carry on playing the Aslan music, we need a singer. So, hence, Lee came on board. Lee's from Finglas, he gets our sense of humour - that's very important - and he's a big Aslan fan. It's exciting."
On the show, the band performed the track Precious from their 1997 album Here Comes Lucy Jones - "a song that Christy never sang live, we never played it live, ever".

"Every gig that we do, we'll be kind of remembering Christy at the gigs," said McGuinness. "We did share a stage 40 years, so we're not just going to erase that memory."
"It's tough to step into them shoes," said new frontman Tomkins. "To get to sing the songs is amazing, it's exciting."
"We've been working on getting the set together for the gigs," McGuinness added. "That's done now, so the next part is the exciting part, where we move on to new material."
