Oscar nominees Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie are attached to star in director Kogonada's new film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

Dublin actor Farrell is set to reunite with Kogonada after they previously worked together on the 2021 sc-fi drama After Yang. The film, which Kogonada wrote and directed, followed a father and daughter trying to save the life of a robotic family member.

US entertainment trade website Deadline reports that plot details for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey are under wraps, but that the film is described as "an imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them".

Kogonada, also known for directing the Apple TV+ series Pachinko, will direct from an original script by Seth Reiss (The Menu).

The film is scheduled to shoot in California this spring.

Farrell, who was Oscar nominated for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin, will next be seen in the Apple TV+ private-eye drama Sugar, which is set to premiere on 5 April.

He will also reprise his role from Matt Reeves 2022 film The Batman in a Max spin-off series titled The Penguin later in 2024.

Robbie, who received an Academy Award nod for her portrayal of Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, was last seen on the big screen in the box office smash Barbie, which she starred in and produced through her company LuckyChap Entertainment.

The film has been nominated for eight Oscars including one for best picture.
